Theres a couple of candidates, but I will need to keep investigating! Fun fact - 2 of the original locations still have a box in the exact same spot: High Street/South Bridge (near Tron Church) and Howe Street/Northumberland Street

I have found using the old Post Office directories that by May 1857 there were 13 boxes installed in Edinburgh. The original 11, plus 1 in Leith and 1 at the Railway Termini on Waverley Bridge.

It's a unique kind of postbox called a Ludlow. They were often found at rural post offices, but are hard to spot now

It is a Ludlow for sure, but must be a modern replacement plate
