A LOT of the backlash is about the feelings #metoo evoked. It made all these powerful men feel vulnerable. And even ones who aren’t scuzballs (possibly a small minority) don’t trust women and think ’it could happen to me.’ So all the powerful men now are happy to have this shield of Trump.
