This is like the 3rd “Dad goes outside the law to protect kid” movie I’ve seen this year, and the second that was ostensibly anti-capitalist (along with One Battle after Another) and also the second to star Josh Brolin (along with Weapons).
It’s a weird year to be a dad with a kid’s all I’m sayin

Did you imagine the dystopian future would look quite like this? Has a real “Gamer” with “Sorry to Bother You” feel.

One of the things that boggles my mind about the current administration is how amazingly nihilistic it is. Fascism typically is willing to kill its citizens for some nationalistic goal of supremacy. But what we have in the US is self destruction for its own sake.

I can’t imagine why they would do that for a futuristic society where each contributes according to his ability and only receives according to his need.

I probably should look up the plot, but seeing Orion Welles surrounded by women makes me think this is just some exploitation project the senior Welles chose when he stopped caring what critics think. Same energy as the Peeps ad

I mean, they kinda are in possession of a list of pedophiles who worked with Epstein, it’s just that the information is not organized or presented that way.

Matty seems like the kind of guy who’s angry because his wife used mayonnaise instead of miracle whip in his bologna and American cheese on Wonder bread sandwich.

In the Catholic Tradition, sin is always rooted in intention. In an analogous way we talk about “original” and “social” sins mostly because they break our relation to God/neighbors. Evil then is merely the absence of good, and isn’t inherently tied to sin

I disagree. One thing that makes fascism so terrifying is it usually knows how to play optics. Like the big Nuremberg rallies or the Fascist headquarters in Rome.
This is Dollar Tree fascism.

This is, without a hint of exaggeration, one of the genuinely most satanic things I’ve ever seen.

Why betray Canada’s own football tradition to favor European supremacy?

I’m old enough to remember when they did this a decade ago to Millennials. The idea is generally to make older generations unsympathetic to the problems facing younger generations. Because if we have solidarity, we could actually change things.

I mean, on Halloween, we can’t downplay John Carpenter!
