not 100% i'm comparing the exact same lens here but seeing some kind of match, barring the effects of the mysterious "aperture edge" control... not a very fair test but lensform is way faster 😈

the chromatic aberrations control defaults to 0.0 and it's not clear if 1.0 is physically accurate or what but it definitely gets pretty vibrant comparing 0.0 and 1.0 with the petzval preset:

it's pretty fun to play with and fairly fast, not seeming to slow down or show artifacts even at f/64 so probably using ray guiding if it's not the polynomial optics aperture sampling method... here's f/2 vs f/16

i wonder if matplotlib will update to match the newer matlab ones... there was lots of chat a few years ago about how lumpy and misleading jet can be and it dates back to the early 90s at least
