Earlier evidence has shown modest month of birth differences on childhood atopic diseases.
Our study shows notable variation by outdoor temperature after birth. Particularly, cold weather after autumn or winter birth increased the risk for atopic diseases.

Unfortunately, this is not good news for the national care systems, which are likely to see an increase in care use due to population aging and the increasing number of people dying at an older age.

We found that age and time to death are major determinants of care use.
Although care use became more concentrated in the last years of life and the effect of age reduced slightly for all causes of death, unadjusted per-capita care use increased, as did the total care use at the population level.
