@sachagreif.com knows better but I think as long as you get past the first section, they get counted. It’s when you go from one section to another that responses are saved.

They do get counted! But it could be communicated better

> I know that I should be represented in the State of JS as I work in the industry

Absolutely! And there's a huge huge issue with representation, and I think you hit the nail on the head wrt effort.

> but doing a whole survey on JS, guh.

Is it more about total effort or effort at any one time?

True, there is cognitive load in even thinking about your answer, even though questions are optional. Some folks are even internally compelled to reach 100% completion.

OTOH when we did questions w/o sentiment, folks complained because they wanted to express their feelings there too 😅

Thanks, this is really useful! What would make you more likely to fill these surveys out? E.g.
- if they were shorter?
- if there were fewer of them?
- if they were more fun to fill out?
- if it was easier to do incrementally?
- if the questions were more interesting?
- …??

Not quite. A family is based on actual relationships, it is an extension of our identity. OTOH borders are largely arbitrary and maintained through coercion.

> Are we talking about citizenship? Residential visas?

You’re missing the point a bit: I don’t think these concepts should even *exist*.

3. The question of whether it’s moral to cripple someone’s potential and opportunities from birth based on their birth location is orthogonal to the economic effects of open borders.

2. The EU has freedom of movement and large economic inequalities between some of its countries. While there is immigration, it’s a far cry from the stampede of immigrants that opponents of open borders imagine. Leaving your friends, family, culture behind is hard and not everyone wants to do it.

1. What makes a country a “struggling country”? Many of the presumed evils of freedom of movement assume a model where a few countries open their borders and most countries still have theirs closed. Yes, that doesn’t work well. Think instead of what would happen if *all* countries abolished borders.

…and any benefit these imaginary lines in the sand provide is entirely around how they reduce suffering for some by increasing it for others, a textbook us vs them mentality that divides humans when we should be united.

It would really help if they’re not private since I need to share with the group. Would you be able to change details via dev tools perhaps?

Is it misuse though? A common pattern is to switch between tabs and accordion for the same content depending on viewport size. Using different elements doesn’t work well for that.

How does what I said cause what you said?

What should we protect ourselves *against*? What is the danger?
November 4, 2025 at 11:18 PM
I was talking about JS!
