Anything with a front mounted brightness or contrast pot, I test the pot first before anything else. Once I had the rear sub-bright pot (concealed inside an access hole) break on an NEC monitor - that took me a few sessions to find

I've got one myself that I'd like some photos off of. Would an adapter PCB that takes an off the shelf Apple serial cable be easier/more resilient?

I didn't cover it in the article, but it turns out the problem was that the port labels on the back are all gone. I was plugging my mouse into the sound box output - plugging it into the keyboard mouse port made it work! Thanks for reading
