Retired physicist, computer geek, amateur astronomer wannabe, happy husband, and most importantly, rescued greyhound father.

A servant to 10,000 foot #skyhounds since 2016.
And to complete the homage, competitors were sure he rose to the rank of Dean because he really was Henry Fonda, just too chickenshit to admit it.

I know from personal experience that SSA does not have complete citizenship data.

When my wife turned 65 and signed up for Medicare the SSA required her to provide proof of citizenship in person - she was naturalized in 1986 and SSA had no access to that info.

When my wife and I lived in married student housing at UIUC in the 80s, local landlords successfully pressured the U to raise rents to be closer to what they charged.

My uncle post-WWII (back in the US from serving in the Pacific) experienced the same at UIUC!

I changed my affiliation in Colorado to non-affiliated because there is too much mischief afoot with folks publishing party registrations (in one case smearing professors).

Since in CO we have open primaries, why not? But yes it makes polls more challenging.

The Suffolk poll that was taken Oct 26-29 gives the black voter crosstab as D:R = 65%:12%

As Mark Knopfler wrote, “Two men say they’re Jesus, one of them must be wrong”

Gee, it must be time to panic I guess. Yup, It’s time to panic about the quality of that poll.

I noticed that the +2 poll released today (Research Co.) has minimal crosstabs. Or maybe just the minimal crosstabs that they are willing to publish.

Note well the date of that proposal: Jan 15 2025. Recent developments can’t be a surprise to anyone paying attention.

The Heritage Foundation proposed nuclear testing - if necessary (if the Nevada test site wasn’t ready in time) using an above-ground test, giving 3 month’s notice of withdrawing from the test ban treaty.

F’ing insanity.

America Must Prepare to Test Nuclear Weapons
The United States has not tested a nuclear weapon since 1992.REF However, given the deteriorating security environment, it may need to do so once again.

Michael Harrington’s “The Other America” (1962) pegged the number of Americans living in entrenched poverty as 40 to 50 million. One of his most important arguments was that they were largely invisible to those not in poverty.
