We’ll soon be announcing how we’ll be helping to make this happen. Watch this space!

Of course we need to listen to the relatively small number of people that will be affected by the pylons directly, and probably compensate them through lower electricity bills. But we also need to hear from the many, many more people on low incomes who are already struggling to pay bills.

The programme pitted people directly affected by the pylons (near their homes) against government. But it didn’t have any views from people who will need to pay higher bills (that’s probably all of us btw) if we have expensive underground cables (proposed by campaigners) instead of cheaper pylons.

The #BBC #Panorama last night on #pylons is a perfect example of why we need to listen to more people when environmental decisions are made (but not for the reason you probably think)… www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

This new circular economy taskforce has some impressive names. But it’s missing representation from the most important group – consumers! It's all of us who will be consuming less/ differently under the circular economy. Getting our views on policy design is essential. www.gov.uk/government/g...

Great analysis from @jamessomervlle.bsky.social on the green jobs information released today by government. In short, lots of opportunities for well paid jobs, but a real gap in the visibility of these for lots of people. We'll be doing more work on this gap in the new year so watch this space...

Today’s Clean Energy 2030 Action Plan is here! Lots buried in the jobs annex too.

Positive too see DESNZ are acknowledge accessibility issues , and the opportunity to tackle regional inequalities, two things @thinknpc.bsky.social's #EveryonesEnvironment work has been looking at.

Our previous @thinknpc.bsky.social research showed the most deprived areas of the country receive least philanthropic funding and have least charities. So this is really welcome from Lisa Nandy and DCMS: www.civilsociety.co.uk/news/lisa-na...

I often hear charities say government doesn’t understand their critical role in society. If the Charity Commission does this, it'll be a real game-changer, finally making their value more obvious (and btw @thinknpc.bsky.social has been calling for this years!) www.civilsociety.co.uk/news/charity...

Environmental policies don't need to be at odds with social equity. Thank you to these MPs who are showing their support for environmental policy that works for everyone. Find out which policies the 300 people that #EveryonesEnvironment spoke to want to see here: www.thinknpc.org/resource-hub...

And the recommendations that came out of the deliberation groups mentioned on page 11 are very similar to those that came out of the consultation sessions that #EveryonesEnvironment ran with 300 people and informed this joint policy position statement: www.thinknpc.org/resource-hub...

We won't meet our climate targets without public support. To gain this support, policies need to be designed that benefit all people. If you want to know how to do that, this short report from @climatecitizens.bsky.social is essential reading: climatecitizens.org.uk/wp-content/u...

Encouraging benefits uptake for those who are eligible is right. But with so many people on the cusp of poverty, we need a new assessment measure for those in the next income tier up so they can access winter fuel (+other) payments. Anyone working on how to assess this?
