新年快乐! Xīn nián kuài lè! Happy year of the snake! I love the Chinese zodiac. This is a mythology that I grew up with, knowing the stories like the back of my hand. Let me know if you want more zodiac info.

Release the things that no longer serve you. Do not drag them with you if you want to evolve. The wood snake adds additional growth with flexibility. There is an unpredictability coming with this year and if you do not bend you will break. The snake is attuned with the goddess Nüwa, the divine feminine half-snake, who invented both art and humanity in one moment of spontaneity. This is the year for transformative work. Do not let yourself fall into the trap of creating that which you are familiar and comfortable. Challenge yourself. Challenge your audience. The snake is defined by emotional depth and deep inner progress. The last time we had a wood snake, it was 1965. The Vietnam war. Civil rights movement. Race riots. Artists must be at the forefront. We move the line by showing up and making art that moves people. It is not time to hibernate. As a monkey, our arrogance combines with the ambition of the snake and becomes a powerful confidence. Where the snake is analytically intelligent, the monkey is intuitively intelligent, and together they create a reckoning. Turns out, the snake and the monkey are intrinsically paired. Monkeys in the year of the snake should be able to reach their highest potential, and can push each other to their limit. Be cautious for burnout, but be ready to go past your comfort zone.
