Posting my figurine collection. #dinotoys #mammaltoys #marinereptoys #stemmammaltoys #pterotoys #tetrapodtoys #birdtoys from #pnso #haolonggood #collecta #safariltd #papo #eofauna #bullyland #botm
1. The PNSO Lurdusaurus

Iguanodonts are my favorite dinosaur clade and the Elrhaz formation is exciting. At first the color scheme seems the same ol PNSO brown but the patterning is striking. I love the low body and huge hands and long neck. A reminder that dinosaurs were weird and different!

2. The Safari Ltd. Megalosaurus. Dinotoycollector says this is 2024, but my in-stock alert arrived Jan. 2025. Technically this is a marvel of balance, its body slightly twisting to the side, the tail drooping lower but not quite hitting the ground. It outdoes other therapod models at 1/2 the price.

3. The Haolonggood Brontosaurus
This figure was such a pleasant surprise. The paintjob and detailwork is leaps and bounds from their Apatosaurus, the pose is lively, it comes with a base (albeit one that is reused for the Einiosaurus), and it was so affordable.

4. The CollectA Jaekelopterus
It is rare to get prehistoric invertebrates figures of any type, much less Eurypterids. I love that this figure is depicted predating an armored fish, which illustrates how menacing they must have been.

5. The PNSO Caudipteryx
This is a beautifully sculpted and painted figure, and it is heartening to see more attention to smaller dinosaurs from the top Chinese company. It is a menace on the shelves, though, and the provided stand does not support it in any way.

6. The Rebor Beelzebufo
I expected a lot of good figures to come based on Prehistoric Planet, but I did not expect my favorite thus far to be a frog. much less an action figure. My model's leg joints are a little loose, but it's a miracle that this figure even exists.

7. The Eofauna Mastodon
Eofauna is still number one when it comes to proboscideans, and they had two great ones this year. I slightly prefer the mastodon as a figure (left) due to the medium-fuzzy texture and the less familiar proportions. The Ankylosaurus is great too.

8. The Creative Beast/Eons 1/18 Woolly Mammoth
I continue to have technical bending/posing issues with all the giant-class creative beast releases, but it is so much fun to hold, and the details and articulation help me better understand it as a living creature. I wish it had the trunk mittens!

9. The PNSO Dinocephalus
I love the attention PNSO paid to Triassic marine reptiles this year, and the oddity of dinocephalus edges it out over the various ichthyosaurs they also released. I have heard some feel the neck is not accurately proportioned, but having this model makes a future likelier

10. The Bandai Citipati. Oviraptorids are one of my favorite clades, and this miniature has a dynamic pose, plus a mystery Mesozoic mammal on the base, trying to get an egg.

my friend Dave from college sells this one

Today's figure of the day is a dinogorgon from Schleich! It is cool to think of these weird predators as our ancestors.

Today's figure of the day is Huayangosaurus, made by Haolonggood. This figure is teeny tiny at 1/35 scale, and the paint job has a few stains from an overenthusiastic wash. Another in my small but growing collection from the Shaximiao formation.

Today's figure of the day is Nemicolopterus, an indeterminate species of pterosaur from China. Is it a juvenile or adult? We aren't sure because some pterosaurs had fused bones earlier in their development. This little figure used to be very rare, but then PNSO made another run.

Todays's figure of the day is Lythronax, from Creative Beast! This was a midsized Tyrannosaurid that probably loved to eat Diabloceratops. Luckily, Creative Beast also made some Diabloceratops babies so you can recreate that spectacle at home.

Today's figure of the day is a Sinraptor from Vitae. I can't get this toy to stand properly and Vitae made a lot of choices that i would not have. It is frankly too textured, or maybe textured without reason. But i love the Shaximiao formation and try to pick up whatever i can from it.

Today's figure of the day is this Tethyshadros pair from Wild Past! The main appeal is the miniature size, fitting for an island dwarf.
February 7, 2025 at 3:31 PM
Today's figure of the day is Nigersaurus, made by Safari Ltd. This sauropod has such a bizarre head. There are some proportional issues with this figure, but it sure beats the collecta and Mattel versions. It has a strange dignity.

Today's figure of the day is a Hyaenodon made by Safari Ltd. What a fearsome brute.
February 3, 2025 at 7:23 PM
it's been a minute since i posted a figure of the day. Here is a Mastodonsaurus, a Triassic temnospondyl that grew to 20 feet. Manufacturer is Bullyland. This is a highly coveted figure in my little community. I like it because I think it looks like hypnotoad.
January 31, 2025 at 3:56 PM
Today's figure of the day is a Zhuchengtitan made by Meng. Even though some companies have started putting out huge sauropods, it's nice to have a few at a smaller scale.
January 14, 2025 at 1:57 PM
Todays's figure of the day is a Gastornis from Safari Ltd. This large flightless bird was once believed to be a fearsome predator but many now think it was more likely to be vegetarian.
January 13, 2025 at 2:40 PM
Today's figure of the day is a Boobook owl made by Science and Nature. I am a big fan of the exaggerated eyes and splotchy chest daubs.
January 7, 2025 at 9:19 PM
Today's figure is this Carnegie collection Caudipteryx. I missed out on most of the really cool carnegies and now they are hard to find for a good price. This weird little dude is a joy (there is also a toob version from safari ltd proper that is a different sculpt).
January 6, 2025 at 2:53 PM
Today's figure of the day is a dodo from safari ltd. Apparently this depiction is a little rounder than they got in their natural habitat, but most images of dodos were made of overfed birds in captivity.
