I think the one your thinking of was the RSO album/film thing from 1978 which had the Bee Gees doing A Day in the Life. I think it had Peter Frampton on the LP too.

Wasn't that a year or two later? There were a glut of Beatle re- releases in '76. In fact I think there were a lot of re-releases in the middle 70s generally.
