Juneteenth is Thursday. What a privilege, that Michal Dawson Connor will be here at Pilgrim Place for our observance at our weekly Gathering (7:00-7:30PM). Michal will offer an abridged version of "The Slave Letters"—spirituals alternating with letters written by enslaved persons.

#OnThisDay 1967, American soprano #GeraldineFarrar died, aged 85. I spent many hours in childhood pouring through my father’s 1929 #Victrola Book of the #Opera and would invariably flip to this photo of her as #Massenet 's #Manon.

She visited a morgue to test the weight of a human head, so she would know how to move about with #JohnTheBaptist 's. 6/6
