One of my colleagues has published a wonderful book on building number sense with ten-frames. You can grab a copy of it from Amazon: amzn.to/4h0mwVI

Great for both home and the classroom, the book has everything parents & educators need to get started :)

#10frames #classroomresources #primarymaths
A 10 frame being completed with pasta. Four pieces have been added - and then three more to make seven. Thanks hands make a great manipulative too - and the book encourages it.

My latest chapter: Embracing compassion and self-care: Educator wellbeing amidst the chaos is now available (FREE! Part of the edited book, Stories of Hope: Reimagining Education).

This chapter is a call for self-understanding and hope, beginning
with the individual. It explores how Higher Education
professionals can apply self-compassion—through self-kindness,
recognition of shared humanity, and mindfulness—to support
their own wellbeing amid the growing pressures of teaching,
administration, and research. As lecturers, tutors, and teachers
face increasing burnout, overwork, and underpayment, selfcompassion offers a practical framework for academic self-care,
helping educators to hold themselves with gentleness rather than
harsh self-judgment. The chapter also argues that the principles
of self-compassion must extend to colleagues, fostering a more
supportive and humane academic culture.

An early start this morning for the Venn Academy Trust Safeguarding Conference in York.

There is an excellent line up of speakers, and look forward to Mike Nicholson (Progressive Masculinities) and Prof. Simon Hackett (harmful sexual behaviour).

I had the pleasure of chairing this #ALDcon25 session and really enjoyed the workshop, where we were able to design activities to help engage deep learning. #ALDcon #loveLD
A reflection activity - where students interview each other with the critical questions they have developed. A third student scribes - so each participant recieved a set of notes on their critical incident.

Catherine Turton and I ran a workshop on Design Thinking and its potential in Learning Development. In just 20 minutes, 23 problems were defined and 134 potential solutions were shared.

What a great representation of the power of Design Thinking. #ALDcon #ALDcon25 #loveLD #DesignThinking
