Crazy afternoon! Dashed to the patch @tophilllow.bsky.social for the needletail. No sign. Then the news came out from @rspbbemptoncliffs.bsky.social so a mad dash. Made it with about 10 min to spare

Trip to Fountains Abbey yesterday. At least 8 Hawfinch showed well eventually, after being very elusive for much of the day.

Hornsea aythya numbers have been low recently. Im not sure on exact counts. There is a lot of duck movement between Hornsea & Tophill, partly explaining the fluctuating counts at both sites. Interesting how the reports don't appear to show a decrease despite the general perception

Pochard are down this winter to approx 100. Last winter saw higher numbers than recent years peaking at around 220. Last year aside, they are decreasing. About 80% are males.

The snow geese were still near Aike this morning with 2500 pinkfeet. They seemed to fly in low this morning with group of 500 pinkfeet, so wonder if they roosted elsewhere...maybe Leven carrs

Another day, another Green-winged Teal. This time a pristine drake, as opposed to yesterday's moulting drake. 2 scaup, 6 bearded tit & the 2 snow geese again distantly to the south with 2500 pinkfeet

Decent morning on patch @tophilllow.bsky.social my 8th self found GW teal & a Raven. Then checking geese coming north from Swinemoor direction & picked up the 2 snow geese as they dropped down in fields to south
