The best way for him to help the team was abandon playing the field, so how is putting him back on the field what's best for the team? How is he literally the only guy capable of learning 1st?

Brock Holt might not have been given an opportunity to play then. Two completely different scenarios that aren't comparable. You're also intentionally ignoring their message to him about playing the field prior to Triston's injury which was it ain't happening ever this season.

Devers said Breslow asked him about playing 1B after the Casas injury. He does not want to do so. Said the team told him to put away his glove in spring training and he doesn’t think it’s a good idea to alter from that. Feels the team went back on its word.

If the FO office wanted it, it'd happen. There's nothing that says the FO wants Devers in the field and Alex is going rogue. They've made it extra clear they don't want him anywhere but DH. Devers isn't great defensively, so if he could learn 1b, anyone else can.

I've been to a handful of spring training games at the Yankee facility and the weather can be awful that early in the year. It's gonna be fuckin brutal at George Steinbrenner Field in the middle of summer.
