To save my son's life, I had to go toe to toe with Cigna on an appeal that consumed at least 20hrs/week for 6mos.

That's about how long it takes me to write the 1st draft of a book, or a couple of scholarly journal articles.

I won...but I (& my employer & social science) lost that time forever.
“Less than 1% of patients appeal [claim denials]. Few people realize how worthwhile those labors can be: Up to three-quarters of claim appeals are granted, studies show.”

Denial mills rely on exhaustion, overwhelming paperwork, & 2nd language difficulties to not get called out.
