I often bring my dog Daisy with me to work on Wednesdays and when she comes home she's usually pretty tired. Tonight she snuggled up into the pillows and is now soundly snoring away 🥰🥰

Here's a fun one... Got a core dump from Paper Mario on the N64. Pretty sure there is an issue either with the chip I'm pointing at or there's a problem with traces/vias between the chips and edge connector. Gonna check continuity on traces and if all else fails I have new PCB's being fabricated 😁

Did a thing for work. 😊 Managed to convince the boss this was a good idea, probably by showing him the one I did for myself. Got 5 housings, so far re-shelles three of these. Gonna have one at each store by next week!

Been busy. Also got a PSOne with a new clear housing. This was a unit that wasn't powering on. When I got the power curcuit repaired, there was no video out. Replacement capacitors on the video circuit helped but the video en oder chip also needed replaced. Works great now!

Once again forgot to post my new toys 😁

NES replacement housing. Original housing was *destroyed* and board needed some repairs (new ram chip) but it's completely functional again!

My husband @bunbun05.bsky.social sent me this clip when he sent me to the store.

I can't really argue it either? Even with a physically written list of maybe 5 items I still manage to forget everything. 😭

And I present to you...

The Super FamiClear!

Bitfunx out in China makes these housings and they're awesome! Looking forward to the NES housing they're releasing July 5th, already got mine pre ordered 😁😁😁

Don't remember if I ever shared this but this is my NES chip testing rig. I pulled all of the chips off the board, installed sockets and now I can test defective NES's to see which chip(s) may be faulty.

I test a *lot* of these for work so this comes in very handy 😁

Got my new Z80 single board computer PCB's from China. Took less than a week from when I placed the order to get them manufactured and shipped. 😁😁😁

Have one mostly assembled now. Just need a few more components, RAM and to program the ATMega32 with the firmware and it'll be ready!

Forgot to post about yet another new toy 😅

I present to you.... The IceCube!

Whatever you're imagining? It's actually worse. So freaking sick of this 'ai' bullshit. 😩

Jackson and Daisy 😁

Forgot to post about my new toy!

It's a 1987 Macintosh SE. This beast bad been upgraded from 1MB RAM to a whole 4MB! Also has 4x 4GB HDD's courtesy of a ZuluSCSI Compact RP2040.

It currently has one 800k floppy. At some point in the past the second was removed. Need to fix that. 🤔

Had another opportunity to repair a JAMMA arcade board -- NAMCO Classics Vol 1.

Customer had tried to recap the board themselves. Inputs were intermittent and sound wasn't working.

Replaced all the caps with new ones, repaired traces and reflowed cracked solder joints. Good as new! 😁

Jackson being himself and enjoying chest rubs 🥰

And with 1-bit Rainbow's help from UK, my powerbook is now complete 😁

Had the opportunity to fix a genuine Open Ice arcade board for a customer! Repair went super smooth, was able to clean up all the traces 😁

Gonna need a larger microscope though if I'm going to do more of these 🤔

Finished repairing and refurbishing my powerbook 145B 😁 The trackball retaining ring is on its way from the UK and then this creature is finished!

Been working on a new thing. It's not online yet but I think it's going pretty well :D

Hoping to get this into an online invite-only beta in a few weeks.

Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #921,847!

A bit late to the party but it did take awhile to get an invite. 😅

Forgot how slow serial connections from the 90's were. Realized I could do this a lot faster in an emulator on my modern machine. What was taking days took me a few seconds 😳

Still though, I find it fun that I can do this via USB cable 😁

Board prepared, new components acquired and board reassembled. Boots up perfectly again and save games work!
August 13, 2024 at 5:22 AM
All components removed from the board.

Got a corroded / water damaged nes cart that won't boot. Time for some surgery.
