Got this in the mail today! Being on a committee for consensus report was an educational experience by itself.

Check it out for current landscape and future opportunities in #ocean #acoustics education and workforce!

I remember being so fascinated by map projections when learning about it in geography class!

One of the most common criticisms of the Mercator map is that it exaggerates the size of countries nearer the poles while downplaying the size of those near the equator.
With this tool, you can play around and compare the actual size of countries: www.thetruesize.com/
A world map illustrating the true size of countries. The United States, outlined in orange, is overlaid on Europe, showing its comparable size across multiple countries. France, outlined in pink, appears much smaller and is placed over the southeastern U.S. The map highlights distortions in the Mercator projection.

Hi @davidho.bsky.social! I'd love to be added to this feed! I am in the UW Applied Physics Lab working on ocean acoustics--developing models/analysis methods to analyze echosounder data for sensing zooplankton and fish, and studying toothed whale biosonar of toothed whales. Thanks!

Oh cool! Curious if you’ve done side by side comparisons of any kind, on battery, SNR, etc
