You're so cordial towards so many members of Congress on both sides of the aisle (complimentary) that if this is what you have to say about a guy, then it speaks volumes 😆

Yes, I had the same thing happening to me. Glad to know it's a bigger issue.

C'MON, MAN. THEY'RE PREDICTING UP TO AN INCH OF ICE. CATASTROPHIC FOR ROADS AND INFRASTRUCTURE. NOT TIME FOR "COZY SIPS"!

Truly one of the greatest shows ever. Wish the cowards at Disney+ would release it for streaming.

Hell yeah! Mixes well with just about anything imo.

yeah, I recognize that look of pure Motor City joy! May it cure all that might ail you.

Truly the flunkiest flunky to ever flunk. Just a completely pliant empty shell of a man.

(Just remembered I screenshot the passage at the time. Just weirdly, deeply sad!)

This bit from the Lorne Michaels biography about how painstakingly he teed up a washed up drunk Jimmy Fallon to his second act as a late night host is very sad to me.

The Lorne bio more or less confirms this. At the time he was tapped to succeed Conan at Late Night, he was drinking heavily in the wake of a movie career that failed to launch. They dried him out (ish), put him on a college tour to figure out his act, and showtime!

Reading the Lorne bio, part of the charm of the running narrative of a week in the life of the show was how genuinely handcrafted everything is by actual artists. It's real "let's put on a show" energy that makes you want to root for an admittedly imperfect comedic institution.

My phrase last week was "well, depression didn't win today, but it definitely got a participation trophy".

Deeply torn on Allam - she's always had her eyes on a bigger stage than the local office in Durham she holds, and hasn't always navigated the complex local politics of the city/county with grace as a result. At the same time, I'd like her more in Congress than in Durham?

Yeah, "my bonus won't pay for a pool" is just such Reagan-Bush era upper middle class problems. Couldn't be me!

There's a lot of entitled white yuppie rage in Christmas Vacation that only Chevy Chase can almost pull off, but there are some great little moments in there, and the whole thing is made worthwhile by Mavis Staples singing the theme song.

I knew about it going into Holiday Inn, and thought I was ready for it. I was by no means ready for it. Just viscerally uncomfortable and upsetting.

ugh, *compilation

...though now I want to know what an ambient complication is.
