Absolutely 100% true. And unfortunately, words aren’t going to solve the current problems. The fight that is going on has long since stopped being a war of words. Just like in a real fight, this has to be the moment where you stop trying to reason, and start trying to win.

It’s a bullshit narrative that gets fed to us which allows for fascists and freaks to say whatever they want with impunity even when we can directly trace their words as being those that led to real violence against good innocent people.

Back in 2016 when I wasn’t left or right, I didn’t know enough, but I knew that calling something “virtue signalling” meant it was bad and to not listen, because for some reason caring about basic human rights and dignity is “virtue signalling”

I think the virtue signalling call is almost a dog whistle. It allows for people to dismiss reasonable and valid concerns completely out of hand and is a favourite tactic of the right, especially MAJA, and I’ve seen it since becoming aware of politics in general…
