Most of these people are deeply trained, or at least highly educated, in humanities. Knowing isn’t being.

Anyone who claims that Silicon Valley would be better with more humanities education has to grapple with the fact that Peter Thiel was a philosophy major.

There are cases where you get to do good, and then there are cases where you get to mitigate harm, and then there are the cases where the law and system are so racist that your client has nothing but bad and/or insulting options and you wonder just how damned you are for even being a part of it.

No one made me trans. I literally was just...born this way.

It's so strange seeing everyone say over and over again that there's no such thing as a trans kid when I literally was one. I was homeschooled and I still told my parents I was a girl at eight years old. They were doing conversion therapy on me years before I met a trans person for the first time.

From him I learned that who we are is a process, a journey, and not a snapshot. The direction we're traveling says so much more about us than where on the road we are.

One of my personal heroes is Bryan Stevenson, an absolutely amazing lawyer and person whom I've always wanted to be like.

Stevenson wrote in his brilliant book Just Mercy that "Each of us is more than the worst thing we’ve ever done."

My son has been severely malnourished for three months, with digestive and immune system problems. Even after milk and food entered Gaza a week ago, he refuses to accept anything and is on intravenous drip. Help me treat him and be generous.

Even that branch I know nothing about but probabilities and conjecture is almost certainly not levantine (it's probably not Jewish either), but like 75% of my forebears are lived in like this one village in Lithuania for centuries

Line 1: 1000 years in Lithuania (pogrom)

Line 2: 100 years in Austria - > 1000 years in Lithuania (pogrom)

Line 3: 100 years in Russia - > 100 years in Austria - > 1000 years in that same fucking village in Lithuania (pogrom)

Line 4: ????? (we have no idea except he's at least part Lithuanian)

It is unironically very funny when Zionists tell me that I am from Israel because I'm Jewish because when I investigated my background for my memoir my family tree went something like this

So much of Biden's record has been memoryholed. The man's commitment to evil is truly mind boggling. He had a direct personal hand in nearly every atrocity committed by the federal government for half a century. And topped it off with helping direct a genocide, then handing power over to Trump

I fear that in the debate over protesting Harris we will lose the fact that the person most responsible for the genocide in Occupied Palestine is Joe Biden.

The man is not an uwu smol bean grandpa. He attacked Anita Hill and helped put Clarence Thomas on SCOTUS.

You know what?

When the United States actually takes care of a of the people within its borders, I'll consider being respectful or grateful to this country. But for now, what I see is a country founded on multiple genocides doing its level best to either deny those genocides ever happened,

And yes, Harris was absolutely wrong to endorse his course of action - but at the end of the day it was HIS course of action.

I just don't want that man's reputation laundered, even by effect of benign neglect. He is responsible for *so much* of what is happening in the current situation. It was HIS administration. The buck stopped with him. He made these choices.

He voted for the Iraq War. He said that if Israel didn't exist, the US would have to create one. And he knowingly helped Benjamin Netanyahu do a genocide, even silencing and firing his own State Department employees to do so.

Let people block. Let people be. We aren't entitled to each other's time and emotional energy. And we can still be in community in other ways.
leftistlawyer.com
Blocking doesn't mean we hate each other or we're mortal enemies irl or we can't ever form community elsewhere. It just means someone doesn't want me in their space On Here. And that's okay! They're allowed! Their space isn't about my feelings, it's about them.
leftistlawyer.com
Maybe they don't want me in their space because I did something harmful. Maybe they just don't like my sense of humor. Maybe they just want a space for their group or culture. Good for them! Protect your peace!
leftistlawyer.com
People get so weird about blocking, as though it's punishment for something. And I understand. But also:

People have the right to curate their spaces. If someone needs to NOT have me in THEIR space for their peace, good for them! I don't have the right to be in someone else's space.

I prefer “anti-fascist“ for a host of reasons and this is a nice practical one.
ifycomedy.com
I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.
