After two hours of overwhelming testimony opposing the bill, including extended testimony by Boise mayor Lauren McLean, the bill passed out of committee 11-3. We will continue standing against this bill as it moves to the House floor.

We supported the survivor in this case by submitting a friend-of-the-court brief in collaboration with @svlawcenter.bsky.social.

The good news is that there’s still time. Our representatives must come together, find a solution, and ensure that this essential medication doesn’t go to waste.

The issue is not a lack of demand (there were 14,500 medication abortions in WA in 2024). The problem is the price. A 2023 law requires the state to sell the medication at an inflated price that exceeds the normal cost.
