My very first waterlily flower (Hardy Pin Waree) Waterlily pads shade the water, provide cover, & reduce algae.They are great for giving frogs, bees, dragonflies, etc safe platforms for basking, drinking,& egg laying. #WildlifeGarden #NativePlantGarden #PollinatorGarden #Pond #LegaseedWildlifeGarden

A little California Western Toad enjoying my mini wildlife pond. Breeding here kicks off in January. One female can lay strings of up to 17,000 eggs in water! That is likely what this little one is up to. #WildlifeGarden #NativePlantGarden #ToadAbode #BirdFriendlyGarden #LegaseedWildlifeGarden

A little California Western Toad enjoying my mini wildlife pond. Breeding here kicks off in January. One female can lay strings of up to 17,000 eggs in water! That is likely what this little one is up to. #WildlifeGarden #NativePlantGarden #ToadAbode #BirdFriendlyGarden #LegaseedWildlifeGarden

My mini wildlife pond (w/ native Azolla, Yerba Manza, & Pickerel). Clear water isnt the goal; plant cover, shade/sun, tannins, oxygen, & undisturbed floor is. No harmful filters. It balances itself. Toad Abode in the works. Augured holes, irrigated, and covered the area with branches. We had toads inhabiting the burrows in less than 24 hours! Babies were everywhere after a couple months. #WildlifeGarden #NativePlantGarden #ToadAbode #BirdFriendlyGarden #LegaseedWildlifeGarden
