Andy's talk will not only cover the challenges of excavating a post-industrial site, but also what the examination of burial remains from the Abbey's cemetery can tell us of the health and demography of Northampton's late medieval population.

The Augustinian Abbey of St James, founded in 1104-05, was a significant part of Northampton's medieval history until its dissolution in 1538. Andy Chapman led the excavations of the site in 2000-01 prior to its redevelopment for housing.
