He wrote "milieus", not "politicians". Many people who helped Jews escape, refused serving in the Wehrmacht or resisted the spread of totalitarian control did so based on their Catholic or Lutheran beliefs.
Under the Nazis, Catholic resistance was not as violent, but wider than Communist efforts.

It's true, I never trusted the US to always have Europe's interests in mind. However, until recently I felt that I could trust them not to attack their allies or their own citizens.

Trump released a product that he wants countries to pay 1 billion $ for and France just said: "No thanks. We don't even want it for free."
January 20, 2026 at 9:43 AM
It's 1 billion $, not 2, and you only have to pay them if you don't have an invitation. Trump's mad because he invited France and they still don't want to join.

90% of Europeans can afford: a smartphone, international travel, an apartment, warm meals, good clothes, ... . The idea that people had it better a hundred years ago is ridiculous.

Europeans' quality of life is better than ever in history. Why would wealth inequality matter more when everyone's wealthier?

There's no way the audiences of these two song contests significantly overlap. The amount of soft power being lost is miniscule.

When did I say good or bad? Countries breaking international law can't expect to be protected by it. I don't think that "You keep on ignoring international law and trampling on our rights, we will never stop protecting yours!" is a good message to send to the world.

Where was Iran when Russia broke international law by invading Ukraine? Oh yeah: On Russia's side, delivering weapons! Why should Europe defend the rights of countries that trample on ours? Not to mention that Iran has been involved in a covert war with Israel for a long time. They had it coming.

Plus: Germany did in fact NOT receive Netanyahu. Merz did say that he would be ready to do this, but was criticized for this by his own government and legal experts agree that doing so would be illegal.

I think I know where this is going, so: The ICC can't even bring itself to call Israel's operations a "genocide", and you claim the EU is tearing up international law because it's still trading with Israel? You really think that intl. law is dead unless the EU has better judgement than the ICC?
June 20, 2025 at 3:30 PM
Enlighten me: What international laws did the EU break?

A very poor article. It really doesn't get more far-fetched than claiming the ESC is based on "colonial legacy". Especially when half of the countries we consider European were themsleves colonial subjects not too long ago. + Bonus points for spreading unsubstantiated claim that Israel cheated.

In Russland ausgeschlossen.
March 22, 2025 at 5:56 PM
March 22, 2025 at 5:56 PM
Demokratie.
March 22, 2025 at 3:46 PM
Faschistische Regime dulde(te)n keine Oppostion in irgendeiner Form.
March 22, 2025 at 3:31 PM
Ja.
