“It’s important not to have this place be an echo chamber” is something that sounds correct but falls apart when you realize it actually means pretending arguments done in bad faith are genuine. It’s the “I’m just asking questions” of social media

Ohioans Reject Redistricting Reform, Protecting GOP Gerrymanders
After legal battles over the wording of the ballot language, Issue 1 lost on Tuesday. It would have created an independent redistricting commission.

It’s still really shocking to me just how effective the anti immigrant rhetoric was. It puts the holocaust in context though. If you dehumanize a group enough, large majorities will see them as subhuman and won’t care as terrible things happening to them

Bluesky is built to make social more like the Web again, so we will never suppress links. Link to your writing, your art, your personal site — this is the social internet, designed from the ground up to be open and interoperable.
Hard to describe as a journalist how grateful I am to have a text-based app that does not suppress hyperlinks. I don’t know if people realize exactly how hostile the corporate internet has gotten toward news.

Also the “dems need to talk to the working class” takes are bullshit. There are plenty of working class Black, Jewish, and Indigenous voters. We managed not to vote for a Nazi. If you aren’t asking why so many white people chose to support a fascist over a competent black woman, you’re the problem
