A number of the more tech savvy people I follow are still active on Mastodon- but generally they also cross-post a lot of the same content to Bluesky.

With Mastodon being resilient against buyout in a way that BS isn't, I think they want to keep it around as an ideological hedge bet.

I'm not surprised in the slightest. They've tied their own political fortunes entirely to how closely they're able to align with him, consequences for everything else be damned. Never mind that I'm unsure they have the practical ability to *actually* stop him even if they wanted to.

I've been "quiet quitting" my most toxic relatives for years already. No confrontations or rudeness, just consistently dialing down the volume control for the noise they get to produce in my family's life.
