This was a profound reminder that there is no “perfect” way to engage in activism—something I know, but often forget. The world is hard enough on us; practicing self compassion is crucial. Trusting our natural ebb and flow is the most sustainable, authentic, and impactful way forward.

As a recovering self critic, this blew my mind. I realized the problem isn’t the oscillation itself, but the judgment I place on it. What if, instead of seeing my shifting energy as a failure to maintain balance, I saw it as a natural rhythm—one that adapts to my needs, circumstances, and capacity?

In response to this dilemma, my therapist asked, “Is it bad to oscillate between those two extremes? Are we actually creating *more* pressure for ourselves to find a perfect balance than if we were to just allow ourselves to flow naturally between our various capacities?” 🤯
