I'm sure this has happened in other States/Cities but it doesn't seem to make much difference.

Because everyone plays the game.

Anyone who is interviewed by him should challenge him. If he makes his views known he can't hide behind the "my views aren't up for debate" excuse. They were in the Daily Telegraph - yes they are.

I think we also need to temper our expectations. What has happened in the last few years is truly remarkable - 100 points, domestic clean sweep, the treble, the 4peat. We will never see the like again. As someone who would have been happy with 1 league cup before I died I think I can cope though.

Apart from motorway services I always use independent coffee shops. Pharmacy2u for prescriptions - I'm not sure if they have a US connection. My butcher has a list of the local farms from where he sources the meat. Lidl muesli - made in Europe hopefully.

I'm assuming most Lidl/Aldi own brand stuff is European.

I think we need to realise that competing on 4 fronts is hard, really hard. Continually playing 3 games a week takes it out of players and without careful rotation it can't be done. This is a new squad with a lot of young players. Having said that we were awful yesterday.

Just to point out that "new manager bounce" is a myth. Only 39% of teams have won their first game after changing manager mid season.

Well thanks for giving me one good laugh in these troubled times.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are no different no matter what you tell yourselves.
January 17, 2026 at 10:54 AM
As I say you're taking their accounts at face value - great if it makes you feel better about Arsenal not being able to compete on the football field. Owners putting money into clubs has been going on since football turned professional.
January 17, 2026 at 10:54 AM
So now football club accounts are all honest and above board - except for City's of course.

"Translated into modern terms, it was like the current Bristol City spending £75million on a striker and £60million on a centre back. Not much “organic growth” going on there."
January 17, 2026 at 10:01 AM
"Liverpool were a second division club but started spending money like a first division giant, They splashed out £37,500 on centre forward Ian St John from Motherwell, and quickly followed that with £30,000 on centre half Ron Yeats from Dundee United."

Liverpool

"(John Moores) gave his shares in Liverpool to Eric Sawyer, financial director of Littlewood’s, and he recognised the eternal truth in football that you need to spend to be successful. With Shankly in his ear, Sawyer set Liverpool along a path to greatness."
January 17, 2026 at 9:58 AM
He goes on to say
"I got my first decent contract at the club, so did David Seaman, we were able to bring in Dennis Bergkamp – and that was before Arsène arrived – David Platt, Patrick Vieira, Nicolas Anelka, and were able to pay them – top players from around the world."
January 17, 2026 at 9:53 AM
"I think that a significant factor, 90 per cent, in why we achieved so much is that Danny Fiszman invested £50m in the club and we were able to go to the next level,"
Tony Adams

In the air raid shelter under St Nicholas market in Bristol there is some graffiti on the walls drawn by people to pass the time during raids. It includes this drawing with the name "Myrna" next to it - probably copied from a movie magazine.

"Teams like Liverpool and Arsenal have to spend ridiculous amounts of money to catch-up with City"

You're almost there Haris - now put yourself in the shoes of the City owners when they took over. What did they have to do? Helpful hint look at your own words.
January 17, 2026 at 8:03 AM
That's what I did and it didn't add up to anything like 550m so I thought it would be helpful to see the figures he was using. Of course he can't back up his figures and so ignored my post.
January 17, 2026 at 7:59 AM
I'm not sure that's true but even if it is it the transfer fee plus salary would come to £80 million over his 4 year contract - not excessive in today's market. Maguire cost United £85 million just in transfer fees.

Kick in the balls for Ipswich fans.
January 16, 2026 at 9:32 PM
Can you give us a breakdown of that eg a list of players and what they paid for them. Also the same for players leaving.
That would be more useful than just pulling random figures out of your arse
January 16, 2026 at 2:18 PM
On that we can both agree 👍
January 16, 2026 at 1:33 PM
And the Newcastle player was clearly holding Haaland. One of the decisions was wrong.
January 16, 2026 at 12:57 PM
I'm sure that makes sense in your head.
