Canada’s Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister says there's a "critical" need to build up First Nations infrastructure. But that work won't qualify for the federal government's push to fast-track "nation-building" projects. "It's about looking to make sure that it's not just for one community... 1/2

There's no single point of view or book that describes real world economic problems.

Stephanie Kelton's The Deficit Myth is a wonderful starting point for people living in the 21st century because it unpacks neoliberal truisms in ordinary language, helps us see where we've all unconsciously... 1/x

A public developer will only cost Canadians if the developer tries to build more housing faster than there are Canadian workers and resources to build that housing. And, yes, that would inflate the prices of construction wages and supplies. But planning so that doesn't happen isn't rocket... 1/x

. #MMT shows us how modern monetary systems work, but it doesn't tell us what to do with them. It decouples tax fights from spending fights, but doesn't tell us which sides to fight with. That's where ecological economics comes in.

"I realize it is in fashion, especially in the social sciences, to decry all authority and power because it is assumed nefarious and rife with malfeasance, but like the anti-vaccine crowd that struggles to understand how wretched pre-vaccine society was compared to today, I think it genuinely... 1/x

I'm glad to read CityNews cover the passing of a longtime DTES resident and activist, and do a good job of it. An interview with Sarah Blyth, one of Trey Helten's former co-workers at Overdose Prevention Society, informed much of the story:

“He came in as a peer worker who just wanted to... 1/x

Pope Francis became the first Jesuit pope, the first pope from Latin America, and the first pope to choose the name Francis.

He said that war is “always a defeat,” and then said it again over 300 times.

He showed a persistent concern for poor and marginalized peoples, and championed... 1/3

I've said several times here that Trump's suspension of continental trade agreements offers Canadians an unexpected opportunity to ask ourselves, who do we want to be? What kind of people do we want to be? Here's Dr Andrew Boozary doing his part:

"The focus is understandably on tariffs, but... 1/x

blossoming for a week or two. I'm always late to the springing of spring. And, at the same time, spring always strikes me as an anticipatory season: look at the seeding of the annuals and the perennials... how beautiful this place soon will be with its flowers, greenery and vegetables! 2/2

I've lived my entire life in mid-latitude regions, where there are four contrasting seasons. So, you'd think that I'd be present for spring whenever it comes. But, I'm not. Spring always strikes me like an event. When I finally recognize the cherry blossoms blossoming, they've already been... 1/x

Only three players have ever put up the following numbers in a single NCAA Men's or Women's Tournament:

100+ points
20+ stocks (steals + blocks)
15+ assists
10+ threes made
10 or fewer turnovers

All three did it for the same team in the same year.

And congrats to the new National Champions -- their growth, individually and as a group, was amazing... the respective comebacks of Bueckers and Fudd after being cursed by the basketball gods; the poise and skill of first year forward, Sarah Strong; the defense; the coaching. Just wow!

He's said that he'll sign-up and suit-up for us one more time, but this is already making social media rounds.
