Chess is the one thing keeping me sane right now.

There’s something soothing about having all available options mapped out to me. And having a (semi) concrete and logical path I can plan for escape, in case the next step I make is a terrible one.

I really miss the freedom of 2000’s-era LiveJournal — being able to post and connect with people via our fully-(over)wrought diary entries on the Internet is a moment in time that we’ll probably never be able to experience again

It’s nice to have a tiny, manageable creative practice again outside of work 😌 Been playing with animation in AfterEffects too.

Hardest part is resisting the Freelancer Urge to monetize all my hobbies 😅

Another lil pixel art piece from last week, really happy with this one. The challenge theme was “Storm” 🌧️ Might go back in and redo the puddle, water is so tricky to render on a 128x128 canvas 😵‍💫

Really wish there was a good social network just for art, illustration + design.

Once a month I pop into my old DeviantArt account and think about reviving it but they completely removed any useful browsing UX with the redesign, and the search API is terrible 😭

Been digging back into pixel art, which was a hobby of mine as a teen. The built-in limitations of the medium are so refreshing, especially to sit down and finish a piece in one session for a change 😅 A little self-portrait I did a few weeks ago:
