I’m with you one hundred percent. Drafting is the worst, regardless of how much prewriting is done. I can edit all day but drafting is like pulling teeth.

This sounds super fun. All that potential with past drama and people with interconnected lives.

So I submitted two pitches and clicked the option to have it send me a copy of my submissions. I got a confirmation for one but not the other. I don't want to accidentally submit a duplicate. How long should I wait for the confirmation email before resubmitting the one that didn't go through?

Freaks and Geeks. It's on the list now, obvi.

When you hit 9 of my favorite shows, that’s strong endorsement for the one I haven’t seen.

I’m probably not the best fit for you. I don’t read any women’s fiction or romance.

What genre/ age group do you write for? I've been looking for one or two more people to swap with.

Oh my goodness! Exactly like sims!

I feel like that totally counts. I like to measure in time rather than wordcount. Mostly because I'm such a chaotic writer, bouncing between drafting, editing, plotting, and researching.

We'll see how I feel about it tomorrow. I have to write about a dozen first pages before I find just the right place to start. Though this feels a tiny bit easier because it's a sequel.

I's slow going but I'm happy with the new first page for this early draft of my sequel.

Great timing. I just sat down to write.

I've tried both ways. If I obsessively plot to save myself time in editing then, my brain decides that we know how the story ends and we're done now. Somewhere in the middle works best for me.

Amen. Drafting is the worst part. I can edit all day long but wrenching that first draft out is rough.

Sneaky science! I adore an author who can teach me something interesting about a subject of expertise within the confines of their stories.
April 23, 2025 at 3:21 PM
This is me. I have too many projects and a fuzzy sense of direction.

Such a fine line to walk.

I've got a short story like that too. Except I don't have any idea how I'm going to end it if I try to make it a full length novel. Does yours follow a similar structure as your short story? I found my ending made an amazing first plot point but everything that comes after that is a bit hazy.

This sounds like so much fun. Those comps give such an amazing vibe.

500 a day with a 5 week old is mad impressive. I remember those days. My brain was pudding and writing was hard. You are amazing!

Mind control magic sounds terrifying!

I can probably make the Friday one work but kids are on Easter holiday so my schedule is a bit loosey goosey.
