(He does have another job now. He's a capable man, I'm sure he'll be fine going forward. It's just heartening to see an AI company failing after receiving eight figures of investment in an industry where ""AI is inevitable"")

Above all it’s offensive that we should deliberately try to reduce the number of *successful* asylum claims. We are still a wealthy country. We welcome a (shamefully) tiny share of the world‘s refugees. It should be an honour & pleasure to welcome people who need sanctuary. Shame on Labour. /end

Ah, family. Can't live with them, can't wait to live without them 😅🫠

So far I have been regaled with a ten minute anecdote about how my parents have decided to buy a new fridge (with my childhood and therefore very pre-transition face on it) and had my younger brother ask me if he can sleep on my sofa next weekend (the last time I saw him, he was sleeping on my sofa)

In my case I was getting universal credit because I attended meetings, but other than that I didn't get much out of it, unfortunately :( I got a bit of "keep doing what you're doing", which was at least encouraging because I was new to job hunting at the time. I hope it turns out useful for you 🤞

Gosh, I remember when I used to have these meetings and they were totally useless initially 😭 the guy I was talking to had just got back from several months of leave and all his info on govt services was very out of date. Cannot imagine how infuriating it is with someone leaning on ch*tgpt

Yes!! There is nothing more frustrating than being a trained queer historian and seeing people demean what's come before when talking about theory/history. Blanket disdain for a topic of study *almost always* reads to me as being uninformed of its existing breadth

Case in point: just turned from my back onto my side and one of the slats fell on the floor

I'd be up for being on this list! Thanks for making it

And she's right about the effect - because of simply seeing this interaction with the author and the way they conduct themselves orienting around pity for their books, I now don't want to read their stuff. And it's a shame, because maybe a future book of theirs would be more my thing.

I think in multiple cases the person making the video is talking generally about people with big followings - she's talking about hundreds or thousands of followers, but this was an interaction between two people (that happened in public). It happens at all scales

When I was watching the video I was very much reminded of an interaction I saw earlier this year where an indie author was complaining about a review I'd left for their book and heavily implied that the reason I didn't like the book was because I was bigoted :(
