I’m a public defender from California’s great redneck interior. I fight the good fight to stand up for people’s constitutional rights when it’s not popular or sexy to do so.
I think Tulsi is involved because they’re going to try to say that the Chinese were manipulating the the outcome of the election through the Democratic Party. It’s basically part of the next step towards dictatorship: to go after the national Democrats. Hard to campaign from prison.

want to they don’t have to. The only thing left would be for Congress to impeach and convict him, but that won’t happen because of the two thirds vote required in the Senate. I’m surprised he hasn’t tried it but I think he’s concerned about the markets and Republican money people going against him.

Unfortunately Trump pretty much can rule like a dictator. Even if the court did find the temerity to stand up to him (which is highly unlikely) Trump could just ignore them. The court’s rulings are not self enforcing. They depend on the executive branch to follow along voluntarily. If they don’t…

Don’t kid yourself the SCOTUS majority will do whatever Trump tells it to. Even if it tried it rein him in Trump can just ignore it, they have no power to carry out their decisions. Besides who is is going to stand up him? The Congressional Dems are busy hiding in their offices hoping it all stops..

They weren’t afraid. They never intended to offer it in the first place because their large donors don’t support it. They were campaigning on a bait and switch. So they had to come up with some excuse not to do it at the last minute. That’s why people are so angry at the Dems in a nutshell.

We’re in a dictatorship now in America. It doesn’t matter what the law says, Trump can do whatever he wants and no one is going to stop him, not the Republicans and certainly not the feckless Democrats. Trump is our Putin. God help us if he decides to battle a country with a competent military.

Schumer was totally in on this, and so were some other Dems who voted no, but actually supported it. That’s why just enough senators to pass it are voting. And those who are voting for it are either retiring or newly elected ones who won’t have to face voters soon. That’s the telltale sign.

If the Dems won’t fight for the working people in this country then we on the left should stop voting for them and form a 3rd party that will. If they are dedicated to protecting the rich at all costs then they deserve to be crushed. It’s that simple.

The problem with Senate Dems is that Schumer has them by the balls because he distributes all the $ raised by Wall Street, and it’s a pretty penny. And Wall Street wants the government open ASAP, ACA benefits be damned. They need their corporate welfare to survive, so they’ve given Schumer orders.

Unfortunately he’s correct as far as the current Supreme Court jurisprudence on this. They would have no problem ruling for him in this if it ever came before them. And ultimately that’s the problem. Because authoritarians turn awful things that were illegal into something legal and acceptable.

Dems lost this fight when they refused to pack the court during Biden’s admin and when Obama backed down on Merrick Garland (although after his tenure as attorney general maybe that wasn’t such a bad thing). The big problem is feckless rules following that always comes back to bite us in the butt.
October 16, 2025 at 12:00 AM
Ok but what can we realistically do to fight any of this, other than taking up arms? Thats what I want to know. Everyone keeps saying don’t be a doomer. But the doomers keep being proved right while the optimistic types seem to have their headed in the clouds….
October 15, 2025 at 8:06 PM
It will basically be impossible for Dems to take back any power because of gerrymandering and because Congress controls the acceptance of the results of presidential elections and there’s no way the Republicans will ever accept election results that elect a Dem president of the United States.
October 15, 2025 at 5:43 PM
People always complain the media has a leftist bias in this country. You’re not going to be able to say that anymore once these guys get done…
October 11, 2025 at 4:23 PM
What’s really sad is the Dems found an away to lose to said fuckwits. And they’re not even fighting back much now that Trump’s in office because party leaders seem to think the way back to power is sucking up to the rich and powerful as much as the Republicans do. Basically, we’re all on own…

The lack of political vision on the left happened because any vestige of socialism was beaten out of the Dems by Nixon and the FBI’s COINTELPRO program in the 70s through things like the murder of Fred Hampton and the rise of the neoliberals who wanted to get rich but still be libs on social stuff.
September 28, 2025 at 7:47 AM
Unfortunately our Supreme Court basically said they are the president’s personal police in its immunity ruling from 2024 concerning Trumps actions while in office the first time around. Which I expect they will entirely reverse once a democratic president’s behavior come before them…
September 22, 2025 at 6:54 PM
It’s a stupid argument, but it doesn’t matter. So far, the Court has twisted the law into a pretzel to let Trump get what he wants. I doubt they’ll stop now. They’re not a court so much as an unelected legislature that makes decisions on policy, then rationalizes the law to fit Trump’s needs.
August 30, 2025 at 2:27 PM
Yes their rulings are their personal politics, because there’s no way the court can rule with a straight face that the NRLB and similar bodies are differently situated than the Fed Reserve board. The court is no longer a judicial body. It’s an unelected legislature that only serves the Republicans.
