The final paragraph of Flannery O’Connor’s WISE BLOOD gives me
chills every time I read it and is the closest thing to aesthetic “perfection” I’ve ever encountered. Superlatives do it no justice.

Sprung for editorial feedback on a recent short story submission to Chestnut Review and I’m fairly certain it was written by ChatGPT

The best way to come up with new story ideas (and to ensure you write something that connects with you and, hopefully, editors and readers) is to look at what’s going on in your own life, and consider how your personal experience can be spun, altered, and twisted in fun and interesting ways

It’s amazing what a difference printing out a WIP makes when doing line edits. You see things more clearly—where to trim those empty calories, or tweak a clunky sentence—in a way you just can’t when staring at a screen for the millionth time.

Happy to have my story, “Now You’re One of Us,” about clowns and grief rituals, in the latest edition of NonBinary Review

Love it when I’m reading a magazine or anthology and come across a story from a new-to-me author that knocks my socks off and leads to a new writerly discovery. “Red Carnage or Bust” in the latest issue of Ghoulish Tales is that story and Xochilt Avila is that author
OUT NOW - GHOULISH TALES ISSUE #3! Featuring new work from Joe Koch, Xochilt Avila, Amanda Cecelia Lang, TT Madden, Violet, Perry Meester, A. W. Prihandita, Alex Luceli Jiménez, and Lor Gislason. Front cover by Betty Rocksteady. Get it here: ghoulish.rip/ghoulish-tal...

New anthology available today in paperback and ebook. Curated by Judith Sonnet; cover art by Betty Rocksteady. I’m humbled to be included among so many wonderful writers. My story, “Blood Warm,” is very angry and very sad. Also very weird. Hope you’ll check it out.

My son was born on October 26, 2024. As of now, he has my wife’s dark blonde hair and bluish-green eyes. When I hold him and look at him, the ugliness in the world melts away for a time and I’m filled with a love I haven’t experienced before and can’t quite put into words.

Anytime I need writing inspiration I read a Bentley Little story and am immediately reminded that fiction can (and should be) weird and shocking and original and super, super fucking weird

Nick Cutter’s THE QUEEN has me itching to find more coming-of-age body horror. It’s a subgenre I adore.
