Dorset birder, more recently into moths too.
A good variety in last night's trap included two new moths for me, Double Kidney and Marbled Green. New for year included Black Arches and Cochylis molliculana

Another good trap in VC11 last night produced several new species for the garden, including this Sand Dart. Our soil is sandy, but not a coastal dune in sight!

120 of 44 in last night's trap, included 2 new for me, a Small Angle Shades and Anania verbascalis (I think!).

Recently joined the Small Marbled club! Also several new moths for my VC11 garden, inc Sophronia semicostella, and this pretty (but ineptly photo-ed!) Argolamprotes micella. Unsure of the 4th image? Obsid says Dusky Brocade, but its features are less clear than the only other one I've had.

Think this is Channel Is Pug. In trap in W Christchurch on Monday am. A bit early, but possibly from Isle of Wight in recent SE Winds? A Glanville Fritillary found at Southbourne 2 days later.

After several empty traps, my 2025 mothing year took off with a Depressaria daucella on Sunday. Two more last night, plus a new-for-me Dotted Border. Yay!

Can anyone help with id of the attached please? A dozen were in the moth trap this morning with 1 Acleris hastiana, a Light Brown Apple Moth and a few mosquito-type insects.

Should be Aproaerema!

I thought 1 Aproaema polychromella in last night's trap was good, till I saw @paulupwey.bsky.social had 10 - great stuff! Only got 2 other moths, a Radford's FS and a Rusty Dot Pearl.

Wasn't expecting much from last night's trap, so surprised to get what I think is my first Porter's Rustic; other immigrants included 2 Scarce Bordered Straw, a Radford's Flame Shoulder, and 7 Rusty Dot Pearls.

Despite being fairly quiet for the last few days, I've had 3 new moths for the W Christchurch garden, Pine Hawkmoth, Barred Straw, and what I think is a worn Small Dotted Buff (but happy to be corrected!)

Last night's 63 moths of 24 sp was best trap of the year so far, despite quite a lot of rain. 3 NFY, inc Elephant Hawk Moth, plus 2 NFG: a rather tatty but still impressive Puss Moth and an Alder Moth.

A better moth night for numbers last night with 25/21. Two NFG - a Pebble Hook-tip and a Treble Lines.
