From a pure self interest perspective, Trump is risking tanking the economy with all the tariffs. The SC didn't protect any institution except the one that kept the economy from imploding, which I suppose would have affected their retirements. They might rule against him.

The real reason has to do with hedging their bets if Democrats take the white house in 2028. They have overridden it anytime they really wanted something. It exists purely to stop Democrats from getting anything done when they are in power.

It would be better probably if every country would get together and treat us like we are acting, but unfortunately imposing massive sanctions on the US would cost them as well, but it still may be necessary and it may be better now than later.

I'm not up on all this, but it might be just trying to navigate this mess as best as possible. Trade to get what you want, but be prepared to yank it back the instant Trump does anything. It is worth noting that Trump can be bribed relatively cheaply. I don't actually approve, but I understand.

No, we aren't there yet. This is the regime trying to cause one, to try to end the democratic system. We can't let them. We also can't stop pushing back. Doing either may give them what they want.

FWIW, I think the talk of going after Americans just like Venezuelans is just talk at this time.

We might get there one day. A lot of Putin's enemies fall out of windows. I think Trump would liked that kind of power and I think a lot of people are stupid enough to give it to them.

The use of an Apache helicopters and the video game type staging to attack those people in Chicago while they were sleeping, well, was insane. Here Trump is guilty of the most secret classified information and we didn't do that level of insanity. Hell Trump wasn't even arrested at the same time.

Think about it republican leaders. The one you wanted, is actively trying to start a civil war. The last one cost us 2.5% of our population, but our weapons are so much more deadly now. Assuming 5% that is 17million people he is risking.

As a reminder the boats Trump is ordered blown up are the president ordering murders. They are not legal and normally in a sane society murderers go to jail.
