I disagree with Holocaust or other genocide comparisons because each tragedy should stand on its own since there’s different historical circumstances and nuances involved but a ton of Israeli and American Jews dismiss atrocities in Gaza as propaganda and support ethnically cleansing Palestinians.

I blame our Eurocentric history curriculum for failing to give students other frames of reference besides WW2/Holocaust/Nazi Germany when discussing modern atrocities because it seems to discount how unspeakably horrible the Shoah was even though most comparisons are made in good faith.

She probably doesn’t recognize the man she married anymore after the stroke like the rest of us. Gisele came to the country as an undocumented immigrant and has advocated for immigrants rights her whole life only to see her husband cheering on ICE now. 😣

Walz has been through so much this decade leading Minnesota through some really turbulent times. He’s such an American hero for defending the state against this fascist ICE invasion in his last year in office. Trump is using an unrelated fraud case as an excuse to literally occupy a city.

The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a great example of this! Mass Black carpooling and group walks after the Rosa Parks incident instead of riding segregated buses finally overturned the practice. Also with Indians withdrawing from British run schools during Gandhi’s social boycott to end colonial rule.

I have mixed opinions on the methods used by BDS but withholding social interaction is meant to meant to apply psychological pressure to isolate the offending party to force behavioral change, especially with universities that rely on international collaboration and visibility.

He has an important perspective that many Israelis need to hear but on principle with the boycott he supports, he could’ve led a Zoom call or a virtual webinar instead to explain his views without undermining the goal of the boycott to economically pressure relevant institutions to change course.
January 14, 2026 at 11:11 PM
It had to do the fact that if you support BDS you can’t cross the picket line and speak at TAU which is directly partnered with the IDF. TAU supports weapons companies like Elbit Systems, has joint research initiatives with the army and provides tech research to the IDF to develop military intel.

Agreed, in that case anti-Zionism would be reduced to meaning you want Israeli Jews to be ethically cleansed from the Levant which would be completely immoral. Anti-Zionist Jews I’ve listened to like Simone Zimmerman and Peter Beinart support a binational state. A Land for All sounds promising too.
January 14, 2026 at 10:20 PM
I agree that there a ton of antisemitic Anti-Zionists who either want all Jews to be kicked out of the Levant since they still see them as colonizers even though they’ve lived there for generations now or Neo Nazis who have hijacked the Palestinian movement as an excuse to spread vile Jew hatred.
January 14, 2026 at 10:10 PM
Neither a binational state or a 2SS are viable now with fascists in charge of both sides and here in the US. Since peace is a pipe dream at this point with Gaza in ruins and Israel’s democracy crumbling, I think it’s fine morally to support whichever solution fits your vision of justice in theory.
January 14, 2026 at 10:04 PM
I don’t support the 2SS anymore since the WB settlements have expanded too far, all major Israeli political parties are against it now and an independent Palestinian state’s sovereignty wouldn’t be respected by Israel unless it had its own army. I think that vision died with Rabin’s assassination.
January 14, 2026 at 9:54 PM
You can be opposed to that morally if you 1) support Israeli Jews staying there, 2) advocate for all Palestinians living in Eretz Israel to have equal rights and citizenship in Israel, West Bank or Gaza and 3) support a Palestinian right to return for the diaspora like Aliyah for Jews overseas.
January 14, 2026 at 9:49 PM
Jewish self-determination already exists. No one agrees on what Zionism is anymore but if that’s all you see it as it was settled in 1948 and it should be discussed as a closed historical matter. If it’s being used today it has to mean maintaining a demographically Jewish majority state.

They fixated on the border and voted for a white nationalist party led by the Heritage Foundation. I’ve never seen as much racism towards Indians that’s there on X my whole life. They all regret their vote but it’s too late. People are dying because of your decisions at the polls. I’m angry.

Amen, this country was ruined last November. Along with Latinos, Asians voted for Trump in higher numbers, as an Indian American I was shocked at how many of us I know voted for Trump who’ve always voted Democrat, I think 90% of us voted for Obama in 2012 similar to Black and Jewish Americans.
January 9, 2026 at 5:58 AM
I proudly voted for Harris too but the genocide was already happening. Harris is better for a billion domestic reasons and I’m pissed about those who sat out over Gaza but she lost every demographic because MAGA was boosted by every podcast and Elon Musk took over Twitter to promote them.

I don’t get the posters thing at all why they were put up in the first place when this is something that happened overseas and why people were so cruel to rip them down. Posters are for local issues related to the town or city: lost dog, open house, new venue, god forbid someone goes missing etc.
January 9, 2026 at 5:26 AM
I don’t see a solution to the conflict right now with Israel’s govt becoming increasingly radical. They’re about to split the West Bank so a 2SS is just a fairy tale imo. Only hope is younger Jews aren’t supporting them and there’s a progressive resistance that erodes US support to pressure change.
January 9, 2026 at 3:14 AM
Your people’s story post Holocaust is such an inspiration for every marginalized group. I hate that what has materialized is that Jewish liberation has come at the expense of another people that’s been forced to live as refugees for generations on a land their ancestors lived on for generations.
January 9, 2026 at 2:51 AM
I know you’ve been morally consistent. I do get why most Israelis feel the way they do even if it doesn’t make it right. Jews have been persecuted for thousands of years so the post WW2 lives of freedom in the US and Israel is something any oppressed group would fight to preserve at all costs.
January 9, 2026 at 2:38 AM
When I and others hear I want freedom and safety for both Israelis and Palestinians, it’s like hearing someone in 1950 say I want freedom and safety for all Americans, WASPS in New England and Black folks living in the Jim Crow South. It doesn’t make sense, one side is privileged over the other.
January 9, 2026 at 12:41 AM
Palestinians on the other hand living under occupation, either under a system of apartheid in the West Bank where Israel retains security control , they lack access to water and necessities and live under a system of checkpoints. Gaza is basically a refugee camp right now.
January 9, 2026 at 12:36 AM
The IDF is one of the strongest militaries in the world, there’s strong social programs like universal healthcare and while it’s flawed, Israeli Jews have an opportunity to live a dignified life with freedom of movement and opportunity.
