This sounds like reasonable security. What if you registered for an account and then immediately had your laptop stolen by a bicycle thief or nefarious mind who then wanted to submit a bad letter in a .doc format. They’re really keeping you and your student safe is what this says.

When in doubt, the answer is friendship! Or hitting them with different flavors of rock.

Is your concern with scientific writing related to AI writing being good, or it stealing your work? I’m more concerned with the latter than the former, since the former suggests, to me, an issue with peer review falling apart and less time to evaluate with scrutiny, rather than the writing itself.
