Finally got around to reading Apprentice to the Villain. I think the main appeal of the first book was the goofy office setting and work shenanigans. Once you take that away, you have a pretty mediocre fantasy, cliche prophecy and all. I still enjoyed reading it though! #books #booksky

So I finished Mate and all I can say is yikes. Misery is the highlight of this book and she’s not even the protagonist. The plot is nonexistent, it makes Bride read like an Agatha Christie novel. And Serena is such a let down as a protagonist after her introduction in Bride.
