Entirely predictable and, indeed, predicted in 2016. I am very much the lay person with only a superficial understanding of international relations and geopolitics but even I could see the danger back then.

My hope that this is all aimed at boxing Trump/Putin into a corner whilst buying time for European leaders to adjust to new geopolitical realities, divest from US, form new alliances. My fear is that they are paralysed and this is all they have.

Instead, we appear to be frozen. Surely there comes a point where we have to take a stand one way or another? Or are we simply hoping to survive at any cost?

The only way forward is to level with the people, laying all the cards on the table, declare an emergency and get down to working with Europe urgently on a security and infrastructure solution that omits US tech or involvement. My fear is that it will not be possible due to resources.

We know the US has us by the short and curlies. Confront Trump and he will harm our economy, leading to further hardship and a Reform majority with his puppet Farage in gov. Roll over and we lose everything we ever fought for and we live in the dystopia we feared.

The Government coming off X is the bare minimum and realistically at this point I think we should seriously be looking at taking enforcement action against the company, in line with the Online Safety Act and VAWG Strategy. I will be pressing the Government on this when Parliament returns next week.
