What was already a huge problem -- rampant traffic deaths -- has gotten worse and stayed worse in metro Atlanta (like many other metro areas) since the pandemic.

“The Human Cost of Mobility: 2024,” a new story map from Propel ATL, reveals that, across five core Metro Atlanta counties in 2024, traffic crashes (425) took more lives than homicides (410).

Last week we witnessed something truly special. While teaching bike safety/skills classes to students in the after-school program at Thomasville rec center, we learned that one of our instructors, Jimmy Tyler, had been the 4th-grade teacher of Caleb, a rec center staffer assisting with the class. 🚲💜

Paul was hit by a driver while walking across the street. He broke 15 bones, but survived. His wife did not. Today, he’s turning grief into action and partnering with us on Atlanta Families for Safe Streets, so no one else has to face what he did.

Greenbriar Parkway is a Vision Zero Triple Threat—one of the most dangerous corridors in Atlanta for people walking, rolling, biking, or accessing transit. The community has said for years that Greenbriar Parkway feels unsafe. The data confirms it. The engineering confirms it.
