I'm so glad you mentioned this! I thought they were going to be uploading to YouTube, and so I wasn't watching Spotify for it. I'll listen to it today!

I saw Tyler Oakley on "The Amazing Race" in 2016 and had no awareness of "YouTubers" before that. I went to YT to look for his stuff, and he'd done some collabs with DnP. So I guess I ended up in the phandom because another YouTuber appeared in a medium other than YT.

I was horrified at some of the stuff DnP said fans had done to try to prove their theories. There's a huge difference between writing fic for entertainment, having your own personal theories, and invading someone's privacy to try to get to "the truth." And I heartily agree with your last sentence!

Also, you weren't too old to be part of the phandom. I'm in my 50s and I was very active in the phandom for a few years. 🤭

I felt weird while watching DnP's video, because I never engaged in speculation/debate about their rl relationship (though I had my guess), but I *did* write fic about them, and tried to base my fic in real situations from their lives. I don't think I stepped over the line, but it made me question.
