You premultiply alpha for improved filtering. I premultiply because I keep sensitive banking and identity information in the transparent sections. We are not the same.

I’ve only tried text rendering one time a couple years ago for an OpenGL course, and I had such a bad experience I opted to bake all text as images for later projects. Still haven’t tried again since.
