Publication day for a book that Matthew and I spent six years on, anguished over, fought for, rewrote twice, and nearly abandoned. I hope it proves useful in continuing important conversations about the ancient world and about the societies we choose to build today.

Open Access is important to me, and is tremendously expensive. It was made possible by generous support from @mitlibscholarly.bsky.social. I hope the book is interesting!

Unfortunately yes — the cost of shipping to Europe nearly doubles the price of the book itself.

Sure thing — DM me your address

Also also publishers: we're going to illegally try to recoup mistakenly disbursed royalties. (True story...)

Great! DM me a good address and I'll get it out this week.

Publishers: Open Access publication destroys the market for a monograph, so you need to pay us the full production cost up front so we can break even.

Also publishers: Here's the paperback run of your OA monograph

❗️Our recent work around the #ancient tower at Palaiopyrgos (Paros) is published in JAS Reports 🎉 🏺

We used multi-method #survey & #geophysical prospection to better understand landscapes of #agriculture and production in the rural #Cyclades.
