Earlier this year I decided I was done waiting for someone else to fix this problem and started working on getting some lights made.

Colored LED lights tend to be very cool, skewing towards the blue and green, and extremely bright. I want a subtle, warm glow, not something that can be seen from space! Example:

The shift to LED lights made string lights brighter, more efficient, longer lasting, safer, and water resistant but it also changed the colors of a standard multicolor light strand dramatically and not (in my opinion) for the better.

Part of that image is nostalgia for sure, but part of it is that new Christmas lights look very different than they did a couple of decades ago.
