I guess another option would be to bind the seam allowances before sewing the quilted pieces together. That would also work for the zippered edge.

I was wondering about a lining. I made a pillowcase with a similar top—quilted postage-stamp nine patch. I wound up using a narrow binding on the perimeter to keep the inside smooth and seam-allowance-free.

I saw the pieces you posted yesterday. (Definitely surprised / impressed by the final construction.) Curious if / how you finished the inside seams?

I'm glad I quit three episodes in. Kept thinking I should go back because Ruth Wilson! Emma Thompson! but I couldn't make myself hit Next Episode again.

I have an echinacea that's produced new buds. Not quite flowering. And all the bulbs are popping up.

I bought a bundle of Indian kantha quilts several years back and am enthralled by the riotous way they're pieced and stitched.

It felt like a Christmas miracle, and we talked about it for years afterward.

Then one Christmas, he bought a whole tray of baklava. The intent was to include a piece in all the cooking plates my mother made to give to family friends. But each of us would spirit a piece away to eat by ourselves. An entire piece!

When I was growing up, my stepfather would buy a piece of baklava ($1.00) now and again from the Armenian deli as a treat for our family to share. The five of us would each take a nibble, passing it around in a circle. We could never get enough.

I've also made Helen Witty's banana ketchup and cranberry ketchup. I like the grape best because I love anything grape. Have you made Slipskin Pie? I found the recipe in Deborah Madison's The Savory Way. I'd never even heard of Concord grape pie before. Another delight.

Helen Witty has a recipe for Concord grape ketchup. Very delicious with winter holiday meals!

Blend and dehydrate to make fruit leather. Blend with spices to make an easy barbecue sauce. The Ball Complete Book of Canning has a recipe for peach bbq sauce that's great. I've subbed nectarines.

I used my stepfather's name on school documents starting at 12. My mother had a baby, and I wanted to be included in this new family but was never adopted. I had to legally change it myself at 18 so everything aligned for college financial aid. My mother and stepfather had long since separated.

My dad did this. He abandoned me, and the last time I saw or spoke with him, I was 10. When I talked to his sister 45 years later, she was astonished — because she had always asked how I was, and he always had an answer. She had wondered why I didn't visit him when he had cancer.

I have fond taste memories of stuffing cooked inside the turkey from when I was growing up but I've never heard of stuffing balls. I recently saw a recipe for stuffing baked in muffin tins with gravy in the middle. I can't stop thinking about how they would turn out; crisp outside, steamy inside.

Congratulations on completing a quilting project! Life goal.

Besides all the uses already mentioned, it's great when you're drying apples. The uniform rings make for even drying.

Gel in a can! Goo is amorphous. I LOVE this stuff; my sister teases me to no end and buys it just for me. Homemade Concord grape ketchup is also a good accompaniment to holiday meals.

Sundays at Moosewood has a recipe for a tofu shepherd's pie where you freeze the tofu, crumble it (it gets strangely spongy), make the base, add mushroom gravy, then top with mashed potatoes. I made it once many years ago and remember it being good.
