Dinner of butter beans, slow cooked tomatoes and red pepper, green and yellow courgettes fried with garlic, thyme, chilli and lemon zest. Chopped parsley sprinkle. Not bad for a caravan kitchen! Yes, I brought my own knives. And Microplane zester. And silicon spatula.

A recent garden visitor, a Jersey Tiger, which I believe isn't commonly seen these days but their numbers are increasing

Thank you again to @totalcurtis.bsky.social for the Manchester eating out recommendations. Ramen and pickled cucumber from New Wave Ramen, Korean Fried Chicken from Yoki @ Society and a huge cinnamon bun from Pollen @ Kampus. Full descriptions in alt text 😋

A metal tray lined with a sheet of greaseproof paper. On top of the paper are 6 crispy pieces of Korean Fried Chicken, a domed portion of sticky white rice sprinkled with black sesame seeds. There's a small plastic pot of soy sauce (I think!) and then 4 fried chicken dumplings. A large twisted round bun of croissant dough heavily sprinkled with brown sugar and cinnamon.

I haven't bought any fiction in a long time, but I bought The Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami earlier in the week. This is the first of his books I've read, and yes, I know I'm very late to this particular party. Thanks to @john-self.bsky.social for suggesting this as a place to start.

I often see pigeons doing this when it's raining, lifting a wing and rolling to one side. Why do they do this? Is it to allow rainwater to the underside of their wing? Any insight @levparikian.bsky.social?
