I *hate* async-await all the things and always thought why can’t the #csharp compiler just do it for me and let lib authors guide compiler that it needs to codegen async on some methods.
We’re looking at moving async state machine generation into the JIT and out of C#. This should enable many optimizations that are hard to accomplish today in async code (inlining etc).
